In today's
New York Times (
Laurels for Giving the Internet Its Language), Vint Cerf and
Bob Kahn get the recognition they deserve for the protocol
permitting widely different computers to communicate with each
other: TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol),
the Turing Award. It's the first Turing for networking.
Fortuitously, they made no intellectual property claim to the
idea.
