A few Sundays a month, I head down to Goldsboro
for church, and lately, I've been stopping at Jan's Strawberries
(also calling themselves the Corner Market), on U.S. 70 eastbound
at the intersection with Steven's Chapel Road, a few miles east of
I-95 and about
midway between Smithfield and Princeton. They've got real
tasty, picked that day strawberries. You can't compare what you get
in the supermarkets with fresh picked fruit. The fellow behind the
counter says they're getting a second crop in a week or two, the
first time in twelve years they've had a second crop. He didn't
know why this year's special.
